This is a quote from Erase Emu Oil companey,

"We are the originator of 'Erase' clear cosmetic emu serum. Our 'Erase' oil is thin, light and transparent for fast penetration of facial skin without compromising the natural health benefits of emu oil.

We are the source for this rare elixir of youth and we keep the price low by eliminating the middle men. If the oil you are buying is not clear, liquid and odorless at room temperature then it is NOT authentic triple refined American emu oil. This is why our product is bottled in clear glass containers. So you can SEE the purity. No surprises here....just a quality product for your sensitive skin."

So I am confused because the oil i get from here has a definate smell and color.
Is this not triple refined??

It also says,

For the best quality emu oil you need the following conditions:

1. Young Healthy Birds
2. Clean Processing Facility
3. Flash Freezing of the Raw Material
4. Quick processing of the Frozen Oil (Best if done within 30 days to eliminate Oxidation)
5. Cold storage of refined oil prior to bottling
6. Stabilization with Vitamin E (3 Drops per Thousand as a natural preservative)
7. Sterile packaging of finished products
8. Fast shipping to consumer
9. Oil processed under the above conditions can expect a one year shelf life at room temperature with no chance of contamination. It will be white or a very pale straw in color and have no perceivable fragrance or a very slight natural scent.
10. Our oil is 100% guaranteed to be processed safely and properly. We follow each bottle of oil from the laying of an egg to the final packaging prior to shipment. Eighteen months of close monitoring goes into each finished product to ensure our customers the very best quality Emu Oil on the planet. That is why we call it the Gold Standard of Emu Oils.

*Omega Acids - Emu Oil contains over 25 essential fatty acids (EFAs). Emu oil has high levels of linolenic acid (omega 3), known to temporarily ease joint pain and contains oleic acid (omega 9), known to have a local anti-inflammatory effect on dermal tissues.

The least desireable oil has one or more errors in processing:

1. Older Birds
2. Unclean Field Processing
3. Raw Materials kept at High Temperatures
4. Raw Materials stored for Extended Periods of Time prior to Refining (2 months to years)
5. Refined Oil left standing at Room Temperature prior to bottling
6. Stabilization with chemical preservatives
7. Cottage industry packaging of finished products
8. Slow boat shipping (especially from other countries) to consumer
9. Oil with one or more of these handling errors can be expected to have variations in color (yellow to a dark amber) and have trace foreign materials. Most oil with one or more of the processing errors above can be expected to have a strong odor and may be a breeding ground for bacteria.
10. Much of the imported emu oil is being wholesaled per gallon for less than it costs to feed and water an emu to processing age. This is no doubt a desperate attempt to DUMP old contaminated product prior to having to toss it out completely.

Dr. Pickart
This is just ad copy.

Pure fresh emu oil will be slightly cloudy and may turn solid if cooled. The oil depends greatly on what food the birds are fed. If it is a lot of corn, then the oil become more yellowish from the antioxidant pigments in corn.

All the published studies on the positive effects of emu oil use the standard type of emu oil. Heavily refined emu oil will lack many components of pure emu oil.

It is like wine - good wine has some inconsistencies while cheap wine is always totally clear.

Skin Biology's Emu Oil for Skin uses oils approved by the American Emu Oil Association.
