I've heard chemists and new agers distinguish between monatomic ions versus other ionic forms where the atoms clump in 2's and 3's. I've also read articles about recent studies linking copper water pipes and cancer. Is it possible that you only develop copper toxicity when you're exposed to the wrong form of it (the binary ionic form)? Is it also possible that turmeric or copper peptides deliver monatomic copper versus binary copper, and this could be the reason for their positive health effects? If so, would it be safer to supplement with something like turmeric to get your daily intake of copper?

I have searched for toxic copper effects for many years and cannot find them in any realistic biological system.

As for copper and cancer, animals on low copper diets have more cancer.

As for copper chelators and cancer, if you shut down biological systems by removing copper, everything grows more slowly including cancer. Insecticide would probably do the same thing.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) says copper does not cause cancer.

Do you think cupric (Cu 2+) has a different biological effect than couprous (Cu+)?

After all, O, O2, and O3 are all different. O (reactive oxygen) is a free radical and is harmful biologically. However, O2 is beneficially biologically and we can't live without it. Maybe if you bind copper in a peptide form, your body is only getting a certain copper form, like couprous, delivered to it??

Peptide chelated copper 2+ has a positive effect on skin and hair.

Peptide chelated copper 1+ does is not have this effect.

We are sorry, but the FDA does want the exchange of any deep scientific information on this chat forum (just the discussion of general health and Skin Biology cosmetic products please).
