Hello, I hope that I'm not redoing another post here (this is my first ever on these boards) but here goes: I've been using Skin Biology for about 4 months. I started with the tester kit (and bought the cleanser and got the CP Night eyes premier, too). I started going really easy, as recommended, but wasn't seeing any ill effects so I upped my usage. When supplies started running low, I bought LacSal cream, P&R with Retinol, and got CP Night Eyes Regular and Skin Signals as testers. I have had significant improvement in the appearance of pores, minimal improvement in the lines on my nose, and little to no improvement in the fine lines on my cheeks. My question is, should I feel fairly confident in moving up another level of SCRPs? Here's my routine... MORNING Splash water on face (no cleanser) P&R with Retinol OR Skin Signals (alternate days) CP Night Eyes (Premier and Regular, alternating) Emu Oil (Occasionally, Celes Oil) NIGHT Wash with Dr. Pickart's Cleanser LacSal Cream I have, in reserve, a tester of Super Cop. It's tempting to start using that all over my face, but I see that it is recommended more as a spot treatment. However, my skin has been totally non-reactive with everything else... even the appearance of pores might be down to exfoliating more often. After 4 months, should I be happy with my progress, or do I have the hide of a rhino that needs more aggressive treatment? How fast would I see the "uglies" if I switched to Super Cop? As it stands, I liberally apply all of the aforementioned products and I'm worried that maybe this isn't going to work for me! By the way, I'm 40 years old, with skin that is normal to dry. Thanks for any advice!

Have you every tried deep acid peels to remove the hardened skin?

I suppose I should clarify about the "rhino" skin. My skin isn't "tough- to-the-touch" or hardened but rather resistant to product. In fact, I have tended to view my skin as relatively soft and fragile because of the fine lines and what I feel is thinning due to age... Starting off with one or two drops of things (or diluting) was not a consideration for long... and now I use as much LacSal and P&R as I did with any regular moisturiser before, and my skin has not complained (but neither has it improved much!). That's what worries me - my skin is not doing anything at all... I'd almost welcome some uglies at this point to suggest I'm making some progress. Do you have many people switch to something a lot stronger within 5 months? Or are my expectations out of line?

Try using a stronger products, especially the hydroxy acid. The strong acids will affect anyone's skin.

Thanks, Dr. Pickart. I'm currently using LacSal and I thought that was the strongest hydroxy that I could get through Skin Biology. Is there one stronger? In other news, I think - but I'm not entirely certain - that I've brought on some uglies. I've been using Super Cop every other day (alternating with P&R with retinol). My skin isn't saggy but it is somewhat crepey, rough, and there are pigmentation changes on my forehead and cheeks. I've also had a freckle seemingly resurface on my nose (which I hadn't seen since childhood!). I'm not worried about these changes, and I'm not complaining. However, everything I've seen says, "back off" for a while when the uglies come on. Is that because people don't want to deal with the uglies at all and would rather spend more time getting to better-looking skin? Like, if I just endure the uglies now will my skin look better faster? Because if I could book a good time for uglies, this is it. And if it meant that my skin will improve quicker, I'll take the uglies, full-force.

You have to try a variety of approaches and a mix of products. The skin can only rebuild so fast and if your removal of old cells and proteins is too fast, then it takes some time for new elastin and collagen to fill in. You also might try also incorporating a skin needle roller. Look at http://reverseskinaging.com/sk...ing-and-rollers.html These are general starting instructions for rejuvenating skin. But everyone's skin is different, so it may take some experimenting to find what works best for yourself. Also, start the products lightly. The biggest mistake is overusing the products when starting. The process of rejuvenating skin with our method is slow, but not irritating. Reducing the appearance of wrinkles and skin blemishes is much slower. But even very strong Retin-A takes about 2 years to reduce major wrinkles at the price of chronic redness and irritation. Also, most people have buried skin damage under relatively good-looking skin. This will slowly emerge and your skin many look worse for a time. Look at http://www.reverseskinaging.co...ied-skin-damage.html Look at http://www.reverseskinaging.com/pictures.html and http://reverseskinaging.com/nasolabial.html and read the comments. Usually other blemishes such as moles, skin tags, sun damage spots and become less visible with time. For your face..... Copper peptides supply nutritional copper to the skin. Without adequate copper, the skin cannot repair skin damage. Numerous studies from the USDA Nutrition Laboratories indicate that most of the persons ingest too little copper. Our serums work best on oily skin areas like the T-Zone and the creams are best for drier skin areas. The fastest actions are on general skin tone and "glow". The best results for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and pores, and for giving the appearance of skin tightening that that we hear from our clients are: 1. Use a very mild cleanser such our Gentle Clean. Do not over cleanse your skin. Use biological oils such as squalane or emu oil to remove make up. 2. Our Serums are best on sensitive skin or oily outbreak-prone skin. Our creams work best of dryer skin areas. Sebum Be Gone helps reduce excess facial sebum. 3.In the morning, use CP Serum in the morning followed by Emu Oil-S for Skin. Start with 2 drops of each daily for your face and increase the amount slowly. If your skin feels oily, blot off the excess oil with a tissue. Later you might change to Super CP Serum. 4. For your eyes, use the search function and read about products for the "eyes" at at http://reverseskinaging.com. This is a difficult area but it can be greatly improved. 5. At night, you might alternate Exfol Cream or our new LacSal Cream and Protect & Restore #3 - a high retinol cream. If you have problems with blemishes, then use Retinol-free P&R#2. 6. Many women also use Super Cop lightly at night, but you should use the other products before you move to this very strong product. 7. The Day Cover can be used for protection against the elements when outside. 8. Copper peptides and retinoic acid applied together often work very well. 9. You may also benefit from our newer Skin Signals products that are designed to improve skin elasticity and firmness, and use copper bound to peptides from elastin and collagen. See the Skin Signals Solution - and Skin Signals Cream by using the search function at http://reverseskinaging.com 10. Daily supplements of 1 gram Vitamin C and 1 gram MSM also help rebuild skin proteins. 2 grams of Flaxseed Oil, Borage Oil or Primrose Oil, which contains high levels of gamma linolenic acid, helps some people with chronic irritation. 11. Stress inhibits skin renewal and skin repair by increasing blood cortisol. Stress also shortens your telomeres and your life. Taking 50 to 100 mgs daily of DHEA for a few months may help block the cortisol effect and stimulate skin repair. 12. Regular aerobic exercise floods more blood into the skin and speeds skin repair and scar reduction. Vigorous exercise also lengthens your telomeres which in turn helps your skin health. 13. Microdermabrasion cloths (cost about $10) often help remove older skin. 14. Skin needle rollers also can help skin remodeling. But do not use them more than every 1 or 2 weeks. Be certain to effectively wash the rollers after use and sterilize it before further use. Also take a look at http://reverseskinaging.com/tighten.htmlThis message has been edited.
