But some raw food versus no raw food makes a big difference in how energized I feel. Raw food is pretty darn tasty too. Raw bison minced with scallions, olives, and garlic and lemon, mmm. |
<trueskin> | I have gradually been introducing raw foods to my diet and have definitely noticed my energy levels remain stable throughout my 10 to 14 hr work day and I crave less sugar and starch. |

The best I found for long term youthful and healthy body is the Brendan brazier diet. I use Vega products and I can say that it's the best Raw Vegan food/supplement I have ever found. I have been on the Perricone road and I have read hundreds of books on such subject but as a NMD and Ph.D in Nutrition I can vouch for the Vega/Sequel products to be the best on the market today. Brendan Brazier is A professional Ironman triathlete since 1998, Brendan is also the 2003 and 2006 Canadian 50km Ultra Marathon Champion He has an easy to read book - Thrive: A Guide to Optimal Health and Performance through Plant-Based Whole Foods (expanded 2nd edition) Nothing complicated in his diet but it just make sense, wholefood plain and simple. http://www.brendanbrazier.com http://www.myvega.comThis message has been edited. I have heard of the raw food diet. As an Acupuncturist, I have learned that not all body types benefit from raw food, especially those who tend to be on the cold side. Folks who have alot of energy are ok on raw foods because their systems can metabolize and digest raw without problems. But if you find you aren't feeling well after eating raw for a while you may be a cooler type person and need more muscle food (sorry Vegans)and cooked veggies (steamed to retain minerals, etc). Organic is always best. Hopes this adds to info already posted. |

Some practices promoted by rawfoodists are extreme and not evidence-based, sanitary, or even healthy. For example, I could eat nine servings of fruits and vegetables on a plant-based diet and get 75% of living juice in my diet without resorting to eating raw meats to follow a raw food diet. Some plants, fruits (tomato), grains, and beans provide more usable nutrients once cooked. |

Even meat is difficult to digest when it is raw. Heating meat - and various plant foods - makes them much easier to digest and gave humans a more efficient use of foods sources than other animals. |

Only Pitta types from the Ayurvedic system do reasonably well on hihg raw food diets. You nshould eat a combination of raw and cooked vegetables. Meats always cooked, and fruits never cooked. Pasteurised dairy causes major problems and studies in Finland are linking it to type 1 diabetes. Only raw dairy is healthy see www.westonaprice.org |

Location: Sydney, Australia Registered: 22 March 2005 Posts: 528 | Salted meat is irradited to kill bacteria. So it is not dangerous from the bacteria point of view but who knows about the radiation. I would say it is closer to cooked than raw, because the texture of the meat is closer to cooked. But that isnt too scientific. Small doses of raw meat are probably alright. I don't agree with large doses like in the raw paleolithic diet movement. |

At something like 50, she looks amazing. So I started to follow some of the guidelines she's laid out, but I've pared it down to raw milk cheeses, legumes (dried but raw rather than dried after being cooked; you soak just like the cooked ones), veggies, fruit, and a little sushi. I still eat cooked products, just try to mix things up a little. I was always nervous about raw meat, even seared, so I've chosen to just phase red meat out of my diet and focus on fish, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, fruits/veggies. I get a lot of my products at www.eatraw.com. Their crackers, cookies, brownies, etc., are pretty gross but I get a lot of legumes and seeds from them, which I put on salads and just snack on. I did notice that when I got lazy and didn't have any of the raw stuff I may have gained a little weight. I work out pretty seriously so I noticed it right away. I think the unprocessed stuff is just better for my body and helps me maintain a lean and muscular physique. Here's a link to Alt's book: http://www.carolalt.com/livestyle/livestyle.html |
