Estrogen-containing birth control pills can raise serum copper levels.
Is this true ???

http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C514620.html

I've been using the BIRTHCONTROL PILL: TRI-CYCLEN that contains .035 mg ESTROGEN for 11 years now, NON STOP .
I'm 43 years old.
Should I be worried??? Confused
I use Copper Peptides TWICE A DAY !!! Confused

Please clarify this for me, THANK-YOU Big Grin

I would really appreciate an answer to BOTH my questions as I am concerned.

1) Estrogen-containing birth control pills can raise serum copper levels.
II THIS TRUE ???

2) I had a little part of my facial scar NEEDLED on March 4, 2006.
I've been using CP Serum on it twice a day along with Emu oil.

I was wondering: When can I make the SWITCH to SUPER CP Serum on it ... instead of CP Serum?

THANK-YOU Dr. Pickart Big Grin

Lila, I don't know anything about the copper issue...

...However, there are data suggestive of long-term use of synthetic hormones being significantly risky regarding health in ways unrelated to copper. Therefore, reviewing your use of hormones might be a good idea anyway.

All the best,
D.

Dear Lila:

Thank you for posting - We are hoping Dr. Pickart can reply directly to your question. However at this time it may be better to call him up at 1-800-405-1912 (between the hours of 10-4am/Pacific Time).

He may have information on if estrogen-containing birth control pills can raise copper levels in the blood.

(It is of note that copper deficiency is linked to a number of adverse health effects, as the above study also reports.)

The topical copper-peptides of our products have been extensively safety tested and do not effect blood copper levels. In studies where very high amounts were tested, blood copper levels were not affected.

But again, Dr. Pickart would be happy to speak with you directly on this. For a faster answer, it is best to call us.

Thank you,
-Skin Biology

I looked at the website and it is rather ignorant.

The rise in copper with birth control pills is mainly in copper bound in Ceruloplasmin, an anti-oxidant protein.

Thank-u Delisay Big Grin

U're probably right ,but I've been on the pill for 11 years and the doctor seems to think that it's still ok for now ... THERE R VERY MIXED REVIEWS ABOUT BIRTHCONTROL ... one doesn't know what to beleive anymore Confused
and the BIG BONUS is that it also helps keep my skin clear (I had break out problems for many years) and consequently keeps a dermoid kist on my ovary small ... eventually I will have to RE-EVALUATE ...

I appreciate ur message, ALL THE BEST TO U and hopefully ur skin improves and gets to where u want it to be Wink
TAKE CARE Waving
