Location: Brick, NJ Registered: 04 September 2006 Posts: 100 | Has anyone heard of or tried this peel: Mandelic Acid? Mandelic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid. Derived from bitter almonds, it has a number of benefits for the skin. The molecular structure of mandelic acid is larger than better known alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic acid and lactic acid. This means it takes longer to penetrate the skin's surface and is much less irritating. Ingredients Purified water, mandelic acid, SD alcohol, witch hazel distillate, propylene glycol, malic acid, butylene glycol, hydropropylcellulose, green tea extract, hops, horsetail plant, lemongrass, goldenseal. |

It is one of the products that Dr. Pickart does not recommend. There are very real safety issues with it's use. I think it will answer your questions. Best Wishes ~The SkinBio Team |

Location: SkinBioOffice Registered: 23 December 2009 Posts: 535 | Hi DianeMarie, The specific type of peel that would work best for your skin type and what you are trying to accomplish would depend on a number of things. Generally, we like to have our clients consult a skilled esthetician as far as a specific recommendation on what type of peel they may need. We like to stress to start very mildly. Skin should not be pushed too hard, too fast, or the results could be the opposite of what you're trying to achieve. We like to recommend that people just first give the mild hydroxy acids a try (i.e. Exfol Cream). It may take longer to see results, but you may be able to achieve the same thing with Exfol + TriReduction. If you're interested in stronger peels, check around the forum, carefully research your options, perhaps even contact Diana Yvonne (one of our resellers who frequents this message board and who is a skilled esthetician and very knowledgeable). Many have had good reports with the 10% lactic acid - you may want to check this out. You can search the forum by clicking on the Find button on the upper left of of any new thread. Dr. Pickart does approve of both of these kinds of peels, but with EXTREME caution on the TCA peel.
We also have Resellers on our website that are very knowledgeable and carry some of the products you would like to purchase. Thank you for your post. My Best ~The SkinBio Team |
