I have read how zinc oxide may release zinc ions that can negatively affect copper peptides (I'm assuming both first and second generation?). I can only seem to use zinc oxide sunscreens since the ones with titanium dioxide seem to make my skin itchy for some reason, while the zinc oxide ones seem to calm my skin. I also do not want to use any chemical suncreens for health concerns. I don't seem to understand how to alternate between copper at night and zinc oxide by day, since the zinc oxide isn't washed off my face until the end of the day before applying my copper peptides. Do the zinc ions only get released when the zinc oxide is exposed to sunlight, and therefore not present in my skin anymore at night? Are they gone from my skin by the end of day when I wash off my sunscreen just before applying my copper? Is this ok to do? Many thanks in advance for a response. |

In the past Dr. Pickart has said that the issue is that if the zinc oxide breaks down it can release zinc ions which could interfere with the actions of the copper ions. He says, "Many women tell me zinc oxide products cause enlarge pores. If the zinc oxide is going to block copper, it might also block skin repair which may be the reason why so many report enlarged pores when using zinc." He recommends that the best solution might be to use the copper-peptide at another time of day. Or apply a barrier (i.e. Emu Oil-S Lipid Replenisher) between the zinc oxide product and copper-peptide. For more information on this, see the following posts: https://healthyskin.infopop.cc/...060085985#2060085985 https://healthyskin.infopop.cc/...150015744#9150015744 https://healthyskin.infopop.cc/...310094365#6310094365 If you do try the "creating a barrier tip" using a little bit of biological oil, the trick is to make sure the oil is applied extremely lightly which should be sufficient. So from what I read, as long as I put a barrier between the copper-peptides and zinc oxide sunscreen I should be ok. Or if I wish to use it at night, the zinc oxide ions should be mostly diluted when I apply the copper peptides, so it would work also. Thanks! Now onto another related question: Would combining the copper-peptides first then putting on a barrier (such as emu oil w/antioxidant) then the zinc oxide sunscreen work for both 1st and 2nd generation copper-peptides? Or should the 1st never be combined with anything since I have heard it breaks down easily? Also, are only the 1st generation copper-peptides the ones that help fight UV damage, or do the 2nd generation ones work to help block UV damage as well? |
