Do you have calogne..otherwise, would it be unethical to give it to a friend to test?

Dear magnesiax:
Sure you can give it to a friend to see how they like the product. These body perfumes are scented oils based in Squalane. But since "cologne" is defined as: "A scented liquid made of alcohol and various fragrant oils", we guess you could call this a cologne. Men may enjoy trying the Jasmine See the following link for the different responses that may be generated depending on if a man or woman wears the scent: http://www.calypsos-oil.com/ScienceOfBodyPerfumes.html#essentialoils Best Wishes, -Skin Bio Team |

Skin Biology question:
I have tried the Jasmine but it's not my kind of scent. I love patchouli though and wear it pure but it's so strong I got to be so careful! Do you think you will carry patchouli in the future? It would be great. |

Dear Model_Dr:
We will definitely be adding patchouli onto our line of Body Perfume Spray scents...This should be in the near future. Those on the message board will be the first to know, of course -Skin Biology |

Dear Dr Model
I realise this is in the wrong section but you seem to be posting here recently. I've just seen your query from the beginning of this year about your post laser skin problems, loss of pigmentation and hyperpigmentation. I have had terrible problems post CO2 laser and have just recently started with skin biology products in the hope they may restore my skin health. Have you noticed an improvement so far? Best Jenny |

Hello Jenny,
Sorry to hear that you had similar problems. I have been on CP serum for 5 months now and apply the CP super cop/exfol morning and 2X at night as well as exfol before CP. I also use LA10% once a week 15 mins, I have the 40% but can't right now, it's just too strong. The conclusion is that I haven't seen any improvement in my hyper pigmentation ( which are minor) nor discoloration which I'm more concerned about, luckily I'm very pale so it's not so obvious with makeup but now that it's summer I must stay away from the sun at all cost! As Dr. Pickart told me, it will take some time so I'm still using the strongest CP available and hoping I will get some result in a year or so. My first two months was horrible I had cystic acne with the CP but my skin adapted and now I have no acne what so ever, even in my monthly menstrual cycle. I suggest you start slow, after two months you will be able to use the stronger stuff. I hope this help a bit, Heidi |

Hi Model_Dr
Thanks for your reply although I am a little disappointed by it as you are using the stongest products. I've currently been using just CP serum and emu for a month now so have a long way to go. Are you using emu oil as well? I am trying to expose myself to sunlight (even though this is not recommended post laser)since starting skin biology as apparently the products promote melanogenesis which occurs in the presence of sunlight. Maybe you are not getting the full benefit from copper peptides if keeping out of the sun at all costs? I have had my skin damage for 5 years and have all this time kept out of the sun and worn sunscreen but it hasn't helped to improve matters. I still have redness and quite delicate skin, demarcation lines and loss of pigmentation all under my eyes. There is hyperpigmentation at the edge of the depigmented area but like you this bothers me less than the whiteness. I too have have to wear makeup to hide the difference and then it's not so noticeable but I hate wearing the makeup as I never had to before! Have you tried anything else to help your pigmentation return? Jenny |

Dear Jenny, First, did you have laser on your under eye area only? I never heard of the "sunlight" theory but I use full spectrum lights (same as day light) in my home and office so I would imagine I would get the benefits. As I mentioned in my first post 5 months ago, I noticed the loss of pigmentation only after going on vacation in the south, I kept out of the sun but the sun is so intense there that even in the shade I did get somewhat of a tan. Some place I tanned and others I had no pigmentation, it was white, literally!! Exposing my skin to sunlight would bring be back to hyper pigmentations! No way will I do that. I do go out for long walks with my Doxies late in the day, after 5pm, so I guess I’m getting some sunlight. Protect and Restore is wonderful for my in the winter but now it’s to greasy, since I can’t find any pure non-micronized titanium sun screen I use a 100% pure Titanium liquid to my foundation this way I get good protection without the greasy feeling. Now after a year an a half I have gotten rid of the hyper pigmentation due to the sun and my skin looks more normal again, but I still see the loss of pigments in some areas of my face, nothing under my eyes, I guess it's because I had this laser done for light acne blemishes on my cheeks and forehead which was noticeable without makeup. I did it so I wouldn’t have to wear makeup. Like you now I have to wear more cosmetics to look flawless. My CP regiment did help clearing my skin and keeping it beautiful and acne free, I’m using it on old childhood scars as well and an older small tattoo that I had removed with many laser treatments but left a bruise like, it’s working slowly but surely. I have read on skinbiology’s website that for CP to work on older scars and blemishes, your skin need to be irritated (Exfol or other exfoliants) so it recognize it as a wound and then start repairing it. I do not use Emu oil because I have read that it’s no better than mineral oil. A study published in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology (August 1996, pages 159–161) looked at the "Cosmetic and moisturizing properties of Emu oil … assessed in a double-blind clinical study. Emu oil in comparison to mineral oil was found overall to be more cosmetically acceptable and had better skin penetration/permeability. Furthermore it appears that Emu oil in comparison to mineral oil has better moisturizing properties, superior texture, and lower incidence of comedogenicity, but probably because of the small sample size [number of people tested] these differences were not found to be statistically significant. Neither of the oils were found to be irritating to the skin." That's good, but it's hardly a reason to run out and by a product containing emu oil. Further, another study published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (December 1998, pages 2404–2407) concluded that applying emu oil on a fresh wound actually delayed wound healing. Emu oil's reputation is driven mostly by cosmetics company claims and not by any real proof that emu oil is an essential requirement for skin. The emu is a large, flightless bird indigenous to Australia, and emu oil has become an important component of the Australian economy. As a result there is research from that part of the world showing it to be a good emollient that can help heal skin. But there is no research showing it to have antiaging or antiwrinkling effects. I have mixed oily skin prone to breakouts; therefore I do not use any oils at all only if needed in the winter I use Squalane or retinol in Squalane which is more compatible with the skin. I use only two drops though, I dab my face with water so it’s moist and then apply the two drops all over my face. I use one additional drop for both my eyes and it works beautifully! You shouldn’t use emollients if you don’t need them. Dr.Pickart does mention that somewhere on his site. After my laser my skin recovered very quickly, more that usual, so my doctor said and didn’t have any redness after two months. In your case you seam to have not recovered properly from the laser since you said that you have redness still. I think you should stick to CP, after two months or so start Super CP and so on. I’m sure you will get rid of the redness; give it time, it’s been five years for you, so it may take at least a few months to get some results. I trust that the loss of pigmentation will eventually be better. I know it works because my facial hair, which was blond and invisible before, is now light brown on my upper lip and my thin eyebrows are now double there size and darker!! Copper is indeed increased follicle size which keeps stem cell production up. So I’m on the right track. Give it some time, it will eventually work, there nothing better so I guess we have to be patient Heidi |

Hi Heidi
I'm so pleased there is someone else on the forum with something like the same problem. I can see an improvement in my skin in the 4 weeks of cp serum use, it's firmer and smoother and the redness does seem to be calming down a little. However, I was in the sun the other day and it still goes quite red when exposed to intense sunlight due to no melanin in that area. I do usually use sun protection but even then it goes red. I know I need to give skin biology products a long time but can't wait to move up to something stronger as I think it may help more. After 2 months on cp serum, I am thinking I may try exfol and super cp, especially as you reminded me about exfol for old scars. Like you I was not warned this loss of pigmentation may happen, only that there was a possibility of irregular pigmentation in dark skinned individuals, but I am naturally light skinned. The doctor who did it was inexperienced and burned me badly I think, my skin was bright red and quite raw for at least a year afterwards, I really did look like a burn victim and it was so embarrassing. Like you, I didn't see whiteness straight away, I think it started after about a year to 18 months after the laser resurfacing, maybe the redness was masking it but I've read that loss of pigmentation can typically start to occur 6-18 months after treatment. As I mentioned I also have hyperpigmentation around the demarcation area and some piiting and scarred looking skin on one side. It just seems an impossible problem to fix. My skin is dry so I really need an emollient and I find emu oil agrees with me, but I actually don't like the idea that it's a mineral oil as these are supposed to be bad for the skin. I'm not sure how that can be though as mineral oil is derived from petroleum. I thought perhaps emu oil was more similar to olive oil. I'm glad the products are working on your brows! That sounds quite dramatic, maybe not so much if you are blonde though. I've seen other testimonials that's it's good on hair. I thought I would try it on my head hair which is really thin at the moment due to a thyroid imbalance this last 18 months. At least if I can improve something that will be a plus. Actually, it may be worthwhile mentioning that low thyroid and adrenal can cause pigmentation problems, low thyroid in particular can cause vitilgo spots, have you had a check up to eliminate all possibility of this? I don't think the thyroid problem is helping me particularly as I'm noticeable paler all over, I'm on the verge of getting that fixed so it will be interesting to watch for any improvement. Someone on the forum has recommended I try a product called novitil made by dermabest (dermabest.com) which allegedly brings back pigmentation in vitilgo patients. However, I've read there's no evidence it really works and that the company have an aggressive marketing campaign. You may be interested in looking it up though. Apart from that, I can only hope skin biology products work eventually, or hang on a few years to see if melanocyte transplantation becomes a reality, its currently only done in research centres. Yes, it really is that noticeable without makeup and bothers me that much! You do seem to be on the right lines with improved hair follicle growth and therefore it follows that stem cells are regenerating, however I wonder if there can be total regeneration after trauma such as laser surgery? I am going to see if Dr Pickart will comment further, there's a thread going on under skin biology product help. Jenny |

I rushed reading the part about emu oil, so I looked again and see you were not saying it's a mineral oil, just no better than. I may do a mini clinical trial and try it with cp serum on one side and without on the other! Jenny |

Dear Jenny/Heidi:
If there is anything that we can do - or help answer (as best we can) any question that has been overlooked...please let us know. Dr. Pickart does firmly believe that SRCPs will definitely help regeneration after laser procedures. His comment is posted at: http://healthyskin.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7270023...600084153#5600084153 Best Wishes, -Skin Bio Team |

Dear Model-Dr/Heidi
Could you clarify for me about your hyperpigmentation and whether this has improved with copper peptides even if the hypopigmentation hasn't cahnged? In your post of 13 June you say there has been no improvement in either your hyper- or hypopigmentation. But in your post of 15 June, you say that after 18 months of usage your hyperpigmentation has improved and your skin looks normal again. Many thanks. I have hyperpigmentation around the border of the lasered area and am really hoping that copper peptides may improve this as there is quite a noticeable demarcation on the sides of my cheeks which I have to hide with my hair. I think the laser may have caused the hyperpigmentation as I can't remember noticing that it was there before. Best Jenny |
