steroid cream induced side effects? Login/Join

Hi, nearly 2 years ago I had strange skin on my penis. Naively I tryed to scratch it off and this lead to scarring on my penis head which is still there, im not sure how badly though. As the condition did not get better I used Canasten cream thinking I may have a fungal infection. I used this for about 3 weeks from what I can remember in the summer of 2010. I then used after a family member have it to me Eumovate cream for around 3-4 months I think. This is where the real problems started I believe. I did not know any of the side effects which steroid cream could have. I have also used Daktacort but only used that for around 1-2 weeks. My penis skin is now discoloured and I believe I have suffered from skin atrophy from the steroid creams. The skin seems thin and dry. It has been over a year since I used the Eumovate and I stopped using any creams from about August last year. I was wondering if there are any treatments which can promote skin regeneration and growth. I am deeply depressed about this issue it has lead me to having a non existant sex life due to low confidence. i have a doctos appointment next week and Im going to insist on having a skin test to make sure I do not have a skin condition down there. I am currently just washing with Goat's Milk Soap and not using any creams. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If anyone has a lingering infection, have your doctor test you for MRSA. It is more common than you think, and you can pick it up from people who have recently been in hospitals or other areas where it is present.
I learned so much about this highly resistant staph when my dog was diagnosed with it. We are still fighting it, and probably will be for a few more months to come, with extremely strong antibiotics.
Good luck.
