Dr.Pickart,do you think the brown skin around my eyes could be cosmetic dye damage coming out?
I do not really see anyone mentioning this. The patches are situated so evenly above each eyebrow and below each eye,on each cheekbone.
I have used eyeliner and mascara for over twenty years,as so many have but did not really worry about the dyes.I just thought they would wash off.
My question is,Is this dye damage resolving itself in this way?Does Skin Biology really pull this stuff out?Would it appear as brown patches?Anybody else at all out there have this happen?

Yes, this can be buried skin damage rising to the surface.

Buried skin damage usually causes irregularities in human skin such a bumps, pits or altered pigmentation.

This buried damage is usually covered, and trapped in place, by relatively good looking skin. The use of copper peptides, hydroxy acids, abrasion, needling, and retinoic acid help remove the covering skin and the the pushing up and out of the area of damage.

One of the ways that sun damage on skin manifests itself is as dark patches of excess melanin produced in response to UV exposure. This excess melanin is much easier to visualize in the UV than in the visible band. Bruising, bite marks and scar tissue can also be seen in the UV months after they have faded to the eye.

It is difficult to convince people of the huge problem of buried skin damage, but look at the pictures at Oculus Photonics at http://www.uvcorder.com/applications/3.html

This is MORE than interesting & helps explain how damage gets buried & goes undetected on the surface. While at the same time it can remain underground for a lifetime.

The picture of baby with the bite really tells all.

Sun damage & other lesions are understandable, but I still have a difficult time understanding how BP could wreak havoc Confused so severely deep in my pores going undetectable for so long? I always knew I MUST have had a fair amount of damage under my skin having suffered from monthly hormonal breakouts in my 20's & 30's...but had NO idea of the severity & depth? How could all of these countless (tiny, small, some BIG) scar pieces be taking up residence... Confused?...

As I approach finishing off removing MOST of the damage, I still fear that there may be more???... Confused...I am somewhat chicken to even consider the UV Imaging to see what is left.

I am happy just to see a MOSTLY clear, bump-free face these days, but I guess it would be interesting to see? Maybe someday? I am still actually in the rebuilding & regenerating phase.
