This question is for Dr. Pickart or anyone else who has any knowledge or thoughts on alguronic acid. The products by "Algenist" are made with this acid. Here is a little info from algenist.com

Tested for its potential anti-aging skin benefits, Alguronic Acid demonstrated the ability to significantly increase cell regeneration and renewal as well as elastin synthesis. Furthermore, when applied to skin tissue models, Alguronic Acid demonstrated a significant inhibition of melanin production and significant protection from UV cell damage and DNA damage.

Through scientific testing, Alguronic Acid demonstrated the potential to significantly stimulate and promote skin cell regeneration by 55% over untreated cells. Alguronic Acid and its cell regenerating potential performed extremely well when tested alongside other well-known, anti-aging ingredients including hyaluronic acid, retinol, vitamin C, vitamin E, palmitoyl pentapeptide, palmitoyl oligopeptide and coenzyme Q10.*

I do not see any mention of it being tested alongside copper peptides.
Dr. Pickart, your thoughts please?

I checked Pubmed

Alguronic Acid - no responses on Pubmed. The name is not a scientific name but a trade name.

Alguronic Acid is an algae extract claimed to have major anti-aging benefits for the skin that are similar to those provided to microalgae cells – protection and regeneration. The claim is that because it works the way microalgae cells do, with the ability to protect and regenerate themselves in harsh environmental conditions it will work on human skin.

Alguronic Acid is claimed to show significant results in several skin benefit and anti-aging parameters, both independently and compared to other well-known anti-aging ingredients. The funding for these third party laboratories is not disclosed. Ariel Schwartz (2011-03-07). "How an Algae Biofuel Company Ended Up in the Cosmetics Business". Fast Company. Retrieved 2011-04-01.

There appears to be a huge publicity campaign about the material.

These are not human studies published in reputable journals. I supposed if you are an algae or a biofuel company, it might help.
