Is it ethically correct for Adidas to sell soaps and moisturisers containing sodium lauryl sulfate, both of whom were extremely damging to my skin barrier? I've spent the past 5 months in Hell(and counting) because they used a skin barrier damaging component in their ingredients?

Should I have the right to sue them, or do I lack incriminating evidence that Sodium lauryl sulfate is the culprit behind my skin damage?

They're so selfish, they only give a dman about their own profit. I'm gonna e-mail a lawyer and ask him/her about this.

Roke,

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a synthetic substance used in lots of shampoos and cleansers for its detergent and foam building abilities. It can cause eye irritation, skin rashes, hair loss, scalp scurf similar to dandruff and allergic reactions. It is frequently disguised in pseudo-natural cosmetics with the parenthetic explanation "comes from coconut".

It is something to avoid to the aware consumer when purchasing products. It is not illegal, however. Drinking beer can lead to alcoholism due to the alcohol in the beer, but selling the beer isn't illegal.

Yes, but beer is commercialised as destructive. When I purchased the soap and moisturiser, both contained sodium lauryl sulfate an I did not know that this was damaging to fragile, mosit skin such as my own. I'm sure men over 35 could take it since they tend to have rougher, dry skin.

Roke,

I've never seen beer sold as being a destructive product! In fact it's quite the opposite, it is commercialized with various sports activites like NFL football for example. It is obviously common knowledge that if one drinks excessively they could develop alcoholism.

As far as SLS is concerned, you have to look very carefully at your labels when purchasing products to be sure it doesn't contain it. Awhile back, a member of this forum found out that the Rose Hip Cleanser that DianaYvonne carried had SLS in it and brought it to her attention. She was horrified as she believes in only using very clean products without any detergents. She had the company (Professional Solutions) that she bought it from provide her with Rose Hip Soap WITHOUT SLS in it and replaced all her customers cleansers free of charge.

My point is, the fact that you did not know that SLS was damaging to your particular skin type, is not the fault of the company that produces the products. SLS doesn't react to everyone negatively as it may or may not have to you. You don't really know what caused your problems, you are guessing it was the SLS.

What about all the sprays and chemicals they use when they produce the foods and meats that we eat? We are aware of that, and most of us eat them anyway.

As a consumer, you have a responsiblity to be aware of what you are buying. If you buy grocery products, you have to look at the label sometimes to see what's in it before your eat it or it might be harmful to your particular system. I am allergic to nuts, for example, and I have to check labels of such things as granola bars, cereals, etc., to be sure they don't contain any nut products.

Bottom line, buyer be aware and beware!

Well that's cute. Because Head and Shoulders shampoo has both Sodium Laureth and lauryl sulfates in it. That explains my dry scalp.

Why do bad things only happen to me?

All of us have probably been through skin disasters at one time or another, Roke. That's why many of us ended up here!

I had eczema for years using "premium" skincare products. You really just need to live, learn, try, fail, and educate yourself.

So, it's not just you, Roke. Cool

I agree that some companies sell things that might be harmful to some of us, but other people tolerate it.

Everything Clarins makes, except their self tanners, break me out like crazy. When I would buy a product and return it, with my face looking like something from Dawn of the Dead, the sales person would give me this blank look and go, but it's hypo allergenic.
I'd tell her I didn't care what was on the label, look at my face.
I didn't know until I started reading info at Skin Bio that plant extracts have properties to repel mammals and can be toxic to us. That explains a lot.
Hence, I use Skin Bio products now, no Clarins..
