It will purportedly take several months to partially heal it all because of a stupid, cheap soap. I have found myself depressed.

Forgive me Roke, but I cannot understand how a bar of soap could cause all of these problems for you. Did you have an allergic reaction to something in the soap? And how could washing your face with soap affect your immune system? Am I missing something here? I really don't mean to be insensitive, and I am sorry you are going through all this, I just don't understand how a bar of soap could cause all these problems for you!

That was no bar of soap, it was the blood of Satan....
Just kidding. No, it was a face wash with tiny crystals used for exfoliation. The instructions said use daily, even though people with fragile skin should be using it for no more than once a week. I did not know that. So consistent use of product eventually removed my skin's acid mantle and destroyed the proteins on my skin's barrier. Surprisingly, after 4 months my skin never healed. Yop'd think at my youthful prime it would have went away in a week. I appreciate the concern. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Roke, |

Dear Roke:
It may take time to reverse the effects of whatever happened to your skin, but we believe that it can be done. Hopefully we can help your skin start repairing whatever damage was done. However, skin repairs itself at a certain rate and repairing the damage and increasing healthy skin cells will take some time. May you find many good suggestions and support here on the forum. Best Wishes, -Skin Biology |

I appreciate the concern. Your product sounds the most promising of them all.

Poor Roke. Have you considered that perhaps the reason these "demons" cringe at the mere sight of you has more to do with your angry and fatalistic attitude and the horrifying scowl plastered to your face? Perhaps, too, because of your depressed, hunched over posture and accusatory glare, as you expect the poor dames to hate your withered visage? Maybe they're even responding to the rampant rumors of your self-conscious conceit and air of entitlement. My suspicion is that the psychologists you speak of may tell you not that the damsels feel bad about themselves, but that you feel bad about yourself, and you're taking it out on a poor, defenseless bar of irritating soap. Also, just so you know (seeing as you clearly don't do too much research before blaming companies for hawking their faulty goods to poor, blithering you,) most anti-depressants are associated with tremendous weight gain, and you wouldn't want to be ugly *and* fat, would you? That would just about destroy the whole point, now wouldn't it? But none of that truly matters, as it certainly couldn't be your appearance causing your dry spell. After all, some rawther hideous men out there get quite a lot of attention from the gals. For you, I would prescribe a change of priority and an attitude adjustment, and then no bar of soap (or any *honest* physical deformity like so many less fortunate souls live with) can get you down, and all the chiquitas will be lined up at your door. Take care! |

Roke- You put way too much on you physical appearance. Believe it or not it is the personality that matters, and vanity is not becoming. I'm sure you are still a very handsome man, but you will be left alone perfect skin or not if you keep this attitude.

Dear Roke, Please don't say things like that, and please don't do anything drastic. You, in all probability, are still a good-looking fellow; I think what you have right now is body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), but what you have to know is that YOU can control this. Roke, I really think you are in need of a caring and sympathetic doctor or counselor, who above all, is optimistic, as to keep you going. Have you heard of the saying, "Walk as if you are beautiful, and then you are beautiful," or something like that? I want you to take a day off and go somewhere where you will not bump into anyone you know. Go and take a stroll in a park somewhere. Set out to make this a peaceful day; discard any anger, bitterness, sadness you have -- clear your mind. Be good to yourself. And be good to anyone you come across. As you begin your stroll, give yourself a little pep talk: Tell yourself you are still good-looking; Tell yourself you still have your life ahead of you; Tell yourself you still have A LOT TO GIVE TO THE WORLD. (Or you may find it more helpful to do this in your car so you can look into a mirror when you are saying these things to yourself.) Believe what you say and then finish off with a SMILE. Then as you walk through the park, take your time, measure your breathing (make sure you take long, slow breaths), keep your pace leisurely. I want you to SMILE at the the first 10 people you come across. (You have to smile at them first -- do not wait until they smile at you.) Be nice to them. Don't even give yourself a chance to think how they will react to you. And then, after the those 10 people, should you feel you can continue this, smile at everyone you come across that day and be nice to them. When you get home that day, you should feel a lot better about your looks, yourself, and how people "see" you. Please give it a try. |

Hi Roke:
are you still on this thread? I am new to posting on the forum and wondered how your skin is doing? I too had damage from overexfoliation, it was real ! However, I would not call myself "God's gift to men" before this happened to me - but still my "good looks" went south. Maybe I am older then you. I was tryinjg to improve my looks and made them worse. OUCH ! that hurts. Do you have pictures or even progress reports of before and where you are at today with CP ? Thanks a bunch and I hope a few years later your skin has started to heal. |

Holy smokes, this has been quite some time.
Oh yeah, I'm perfectly fine now. Overexfoliation just means that you damaged the collagen fibres that constitute your skin, so it appears more flat or sunk on your face. Ultimately I used retin-A + CP serum to fix it. I supplemented with MSM and vitamin C to speed the progress. Go easy on the MSM though. I still come by here from time to time for the knowledge. |

I am glad you are healed. Can you share what happened with the MSM? You said to be careful with it.
Thanks a bunch. |

Well, I believe that MSM caused me to have a mild arrythma. That was also due to the fact that I was defecient in magnesium and potassium. Also note that I love stress and that could exacerbate the negative symptom.
And please take note, this happened to ONLY me. Most people on here reported nothing wrong with MSM, it was just me. It's vbbery safe substance, with minor side-effects if you workout alot, study and work alot with nutrional defeciency. I knwo ou can heal. Retin-A + CP peptides can make your skin grow at 5 times it's regualr speed. In 1 month session you can have 5 months worth of skin oridinary skin repair. |

Thanks for the information Roke. Did you use the Retin A plus CP at the same time? What was your routine like? Did you add other topicals?
Thank you. |

I applied either one first, depending on the intensity of retin-A.
I also put almond oil somewhere. Preferable routine: retin-A -> Cp serum -> almond oil. |

lethargy,
I have fine lines and acne. I didn't overexfoliate, but my skin got very stressed and fragile. I'm taking fish oil for now, backing off of most actives. It's been 5 weeks taking the fish oil as Dr. Pickart recommends. After 2-3 months of this, he said I should be able to use copper products again. I'm holding out hope. The fish oil is good for general anti-inflammatory action in the body. good luck in your skin adventures..... creative1 |
