My very good friend has read, I guess the latest book, that espouses Coconut oil as a curative. Lowers cholesterol, good for digestion, etc. The book claims it is the BEST makeup remover and moisterizer.
Any comments? My Best |

Hi Sirius,
Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is SUPERIOR internally for your health...It does however solidify at room temperature making it hard to use on your skin (you would have to emulsify it in your hands)... I've tried products containing Coconut Oil, but they broke me out...it could be from the other ingredients that help to keep it liquid, but I'm NOT sure... I would think that the raw, organic form would be the most beneficial...perhaps someone else has tried? |

I like it as a body oil, it has a very light, dry-ish after feel. It's perfect for hot weather. For my body I don't notice much difference between the effects of fractionated coconut oil and wet milled coconut oil. But the wet milled smells yummy on your skin, if you like the aroma of real coconut (or your significant other does.) On my face it gives me pimples after a few days of use and it leaves my facial skin feeling a bit too dry. As a comparison, emu and/or jojoba give me the moist feeling on my face with no pimples. As a Food Yum, yum, yummy, yum! I've eaten wet milled coconut oil for a while now, (in addition to really fresh olive oil, butter, and fat from grass fed meat.) I think it makes me feel more peppy overall. I eat it because it tastes really good. My lipoprotein levels tend to be low (around 100 combined) and adding coconut to my diet hasn't raised them one iota. Wet milled is the most fragrant n strongest coconut-tasting oil, extracted from fresh coconut meat. Sometimes it's called 'virgin' coconut oil, although there are no standardized parameters for the virgin designation, like there are with olive oil. Other less strong tasting types are extracted from dried coconut meat, and RBD oil – Refined, Bleached, Deodorized. I love the wet milled stuff, it's great for high heat frying, and it's delicious cold, used as a topping like one would use butter… or used as a flavoring ingredient. I put a tablespoon of it into waffle batter (per 2 cups dry ingredients). |

I am interested in following up on this topic. Though I suspect that the oil is a bit heavy for facial use...

I tried virgin coconut oil a couple of times after reading about the benefits.
It sent my cholesterol levels through the roof, and, curiously, my hair and brows began to fall out. |
