Hi! I've been reading on this forum for a while and I'm very interested in learning more about the serums used for scar removal/reduction.
From what I've understood so far, it's chemical serums that you put on your skin daily that will little by little remove the scar tissue and replace it with new, healthy skin. Right? It does sound logical I just have a few questions: 1. What is the exact regimen you're suppose to go through? I've read putting the serums on your scar + exfoliate.. Is that also done daily? Is there anything else, in addition, that I should do for the maximum results? (Or just results at all actually :P) 2. Is it sure to give results, if you stick with it? I don't mean complete removal now, just definite improvement? I'd be so awesome to get rid of these stretch marks completely, but I would definitely go for just reducing them aswell. 3. For how long would you expect to do this? A year? More? I know the permanent results are the ones that takes time to see, so I'm willing to give it time. 4. The 'it gets worse before it gets better' deal scares me a little bit to be honest. Haha, I'm one of those people who KNOW that it's a normal phase to go through but still freaks out. Basically, it DOES get better later? It doesn't stay like that, when the scars are more visible? I'd like to give a little information about my situation so you can tell me if I can benefit from anything of it. I'm 16, female, with abdominal stretch marks after weight gain. They're about.. Hrm, 3-4 mm wide? And the longest is maybe 6 cm long.. They're beside my bellybutton. On the left side they've been there for 3-4 years and are starting to heal. On the right side they're newer (and NOT as 'bad', they're shorter and smaller) and still red. Can my age make me see better results? And, can the 'facts' of the stretch marks also hold a key to how well I'll respond? Thanks in advance for any replies, I just want to do this right |

Dear LilS:
The regimen that has been most successful has been the one outline at our page on Copper-Peptides for Stretch Mark Reduction 1. The key for stretchmark reduction/removal is consistency, consistency, consistency. Every day use a method of exfoliation (typically a chemical exfoliator + a method of manual exfoliation works best). This can be done with LacSal Cream and using a microdermabrasion cloth every single day when washing. Follow up by using a strong copper-peptide product. Some use TriReduction, others use Super Cop Cream, and still others mix in a little bit of Super Cop Cream into our Copper-Peptide Body Lotion and apply to the area. 2. Most clients are more than satisfied at a reduction of their stretchmarks. Stretchmarks are one of the more difficult to affect skin concerns and for a topical to have an affect on them leaves many clients extremely happy with the results. So remember the key is consistency and patience. 3. Approach it as a process, rather than a "quick-fix" or "cosmetic cover up". Use the products for at least 4-6 months for best results. 4. Typically we have seen damage be pushed to the fore when dealing with scars (or when clients use the product too heavily or start out too strong). Because stretchmarks are very difficult to affect, using a little bit stronger approach has generally worked well. We don't see things "get worse before it gets better" when treating stretchmarks. The best way to see positive results is to use all products lightly (but consistently), use a good method of exfoliation (manual and chemical), and check in with us along the way. Because you are very young, we might just recommend the Protect & Restore Body Lotion and the use of a skin scrub or microdermabrasion cloth. Your skin is very young and will be able to bounce back much quicker than someone older dealing with stretchmarks. Best Wishes, -Skin Biology |
