I have been reading this forum for a while, but this is my first post. I have a hypertrophic scar on my chest from laser tattoo removal. I have used products off and on for years to try and remove it, but there were many problems finding the right balance for peeling/ exfoliating since the scar tissue is pretty tough and unresponsive. I had some "professional" peeling treatments that were too harsh and painful to continue. I tried at home peels, even 70% glycolic acid and the highest percentage of TCA that I could purchase online. Neither one of those yielded any results. Finally, a little over a week ago, I got a bottle of corn and callous remover with 17% salicylic acid. It was AWESOME. My skin turned really red, like blood red where the product was, and then a few days later it started to peel. It took about 6 days for it to all peel off. It wasn't a scab like some of the other really harsh peels I have had done, and it didn't crust up or bleed, it just peeled. I am also using super cop 2X and I started using retinol .30% after the skin had completely exfoliated. Anyway, I think I may actually make some progress with this, so I wanted to post my experience. The key is to remove all the scar tissue or it may grow back. The copper peptides seem to help the normal skin growth more.

The CPs also supress TGF-beta-1, the scar forming protein.

I wanted to post my progress with the scar on my chest and give some more background and an update. It has been two weeks since I did the peel with corn and callous remover. Once the skin finished peeling completely, I began doing manual abrasion in the shower in the morning then retinol .30% serum after the shower. I wait at least an hour, sometimes more, then put on suprercopX2, and then a blend of emu oil, rose hips seed oil and quercitin. In the evening, I use witch hazel to clean the area, wait 20 min. to do the ret., then an hour or so to do the CPs and oil. I have really had much more progress with this system than any other. I also rolled two nights with a .75 mm roller I bought from Clear Skin Care in Australia. It seems to be a good roller, and it has given me good results. It has been about a week since my last roll. The people at clear skin care said that it was fine to roll the skin every night, which I had been doing, but I backed off a little bit since the scar tissue has really started to respond to the combination of products I am currently using. I had planned on doing another peel with the corn and callous remover tomorrow night, which would be two weeks since the last one. However, I think I am going to give my skin a few days with only CPs and oil at this point because it seems a little too irritated. I think I may need to find another method for manual abrasion. I have been using the stretchy exfoliating gloves that you can get at any drug store, but they seem to be a little to rough at this point. I am quite pleased with the changes I see with this skin, though.

Oh, so the background. I had a tattoo on my chest that I had laser removal for. During the removal process, my skin scarred up. It is a hypertrophic scar that is the same shape the tattoo was. Most of the pigment is gone, but there is a little left. Although, it is hard to tell what is residual pigment, and what is discoloration from the scar tissue. I tried to take photos of it, but it doesn't show up very well in pictures. Oh, well, no before and afters Frowner. It isn't a solid scar, though, and maybe it is because of the way the laser hits the skin. It is done in pulses that create a series of dots on the skin. Anyway, the scar looks kind of like chicken skin. I have used all kinds of treatments and products on this scar in the past, with minimal results. But, the combo I am using now is really starting to break it down. The Super Cop X2 is really amazing and I think the retinol .30% serum is helping it penetrate deeper. I would like to be rolling again every night, because I really like the way it feels, and the way my skin looks afterwards. It really does seem to make a difference. But, for the next couple of days, just CPs and oil. I will keep everyone posted on my progress. Wink
