I've noticed that I started to get "holes" at the edges of the scars, can I reverse it?

Dear Sacred Scar:
It would be beneficial to know what method of scar removal (hydroxy acids and copper-peptide products) you are using to better be able to help. Depending on what methods you are using you may be seeing: (1) previous damage coming to the surface which is a good sign or (2) you may be over-doing it with your exfoliation and may need to use more of the copper-peptides to help rebuild the skin and let it 'catch up with itself'. Carefully review our page on Tips on Using SRCPs (Skin Remodeling Copper-Peptides) There it covers the following subjects: * Why Things May Look Worse Before They Look Better and... * How to "Rest" the Skin and When to Do It Those tips will be very useful to you! Best Wishes, -Skin Biology |

Sacred Scar,
Was it from the products? I ask because I too had some buried scars come out even in places where no scars were showing at all, so I just stopped using CPs on the area to see if skin will grow back. It has been over a week, and it is still the same. The pitted scars are more noticeable and a medium size pit showed up from nowhere. I was initially treating only my raised scar w/ much improvements and decided to use super CP serum on a few pitted areas and ended up w/ more pitted scars. I am told that it will eventually get covered up again in a few weeks. Currently, I have decided to use CP only on the raised scar. I am told that this is not permanent damage. JayD |

In addition, before super CP, I was using GHK peptide and regular CP on the pitted areas with improvement as well. Maybe, the super cp was just too much for my skin, because it just reversed any improvements (and then some) I received from the weaker CPs. My plan is to start back up again once the skin covers the buried pitted scar.

You must remove the buried scar tissue to get full healing. Pitted scars may need needling to break up the hard scar tissue.

The scar tissue is like a little ball covered by relatively good skin. But as you remove scar tissue, more of the buried scar tissue becomes visible. |

Hi Dr Pickart,
HELP!!! i've just bought some injection needles, have asked for the finest one, from the pharmacy and the alcohol to steralize the needle. I've just tried my first attempt of poking on a few of my pitted scars just now. However, after poking the the pitted scars, i was confused what to apply next, as im not able to use exfol serum at the time being as im trying to conceive now. 1) So may i know, what should i apply right after the needling/ poking ? Is CP serum or bioheal better? 2) Since i cant use exfol serum, will poking the pitted scars still be as effective just by using CP serum alone to level up the scars even without the use of exfol serum? 3) Can i still do poking on the pitted scars even when im pregnant? Sorry for so much questions. Thanks alot doc |

The idea is just to very lightly scratch away a little hard scar tissue each time. Then you could follow with CP Serum.

Yes, you can but do it mildly. Also tell your physician what you are doing.

Hi Dr. Pickart/ others who have done diy needling
Is scabbing normal after the scratching on each pitted holes? I experienced scabbing and redness inside the pitted holes after i used Trireduction, or should i be using CP instead for the needling? However, after the scabs came off, the pitted holes looks raw and deeply red, will the pitted holes able to level up after the recovery? Stoney & Hallie, hihi, may i know how often do you do poking. scratching at the pitted scars area? Is weekly or monthly recommanded for better results? I;ve actually srarted my needling on some pitted scars from my laser post-op 2rd week, it should be fine right? Appreciate for feedbacks and help, thanks |

Sometimes you can loosen scar tissue without any bleeding. Try the very small lancets used for diabetic sugar measurements. They cause very little skin damage.
