Location: Home Registered: 23 August 2006 Posts: 182 | Would the 1.5 mm dermaroller likely have an effect on stretch marks? It is said to penetrate 1.0 to 1.3 mm into the skin, how deep are the stretch marks usually rooted or what is the average thickness of the epidermis? |
Location: Vancouver Registered: 28 December 2006 Posts: 17 | You would have to go deeper than 1.3mm. Also, they won't sell you the 1.5 unless you are a doctor. There is a reason for this. You must be experienced. If you go too deep you can cause a hemotoma. |

All the comments that I have received about Dermaroller have been positive. |
Location: ohio Registered: 05 November 2006 Posts: 3 | where can you find one to buy? I've seen one before.. has anyone tried it? The fact that I would be rolling needles across my skin, kinda scares me.. |
Location: Home Registered: 23 August 2006 Posts: 182 | Try ebay. To be honest I'm not too convinced that this device will help a lot with stretch marks, at least the cosmetic version. I think the big problem with stretch marks is breaking down the scar tissue, which is normally fairly deep. |
Location: australia Registered: 15 July 2006 Posts: 51 | There were some 1 & 1 and a halfmm ones on ebay a little while back but they don't seem to be available at the moment. Maybe the crowd over at acneorg bought them up |
Location: Louisville, KY Registered: 02 December 2006 Posts: 7 | I just ordered the Novaderm skin and scalp roller off ebay-Australia. It's needles are .75mm in length. I'm hoping it will help with some hypopigmentation spots on my face from acne. We'll see. |
Location: usa Registered: 07 October 2006 Posts: 29 | i was going to order one but decided against it after i got the double sided micromermabrassion cloth because u can do a spot rub and you can control how hard you press without worrying about causing serous damage, I don't see how the roller can help with pigment discoloration, the exfol and cp serum work like magic to correct discoloration. |
Location: Louisville, KY Registered: 02 December 2006 Posts: 7 | The roller should help to break up scar tissue- which is the tissue that is hypopigmented. I plan to follow the "rolling with cp's. |

Its only going to help break up the scar tissue if it can reach it. The dermarollers won't, the medical ones may. |
Location: Louisville, KY Registered: 02 December 2006 Posts: 7 | Kojiro- you're probably right. The roller I got is .75mm, vs the home dermaroller, which I think is .25. So, it goes deeper than dermaroller, but not as deep as the medical grade. Time will tell if it helps. I will keep my eyes out for the 1.5mm or more, but for now, this is what I'm able to get. If anyone finds a 1.5 or 2mm anywhere, please let me know. Thanks. Robin |
Location: UK Registered: 15 August 2006 Posts: 129 | i think the idea is that they help the products penetrate more deeply - and i can vouc for that... my peels work far more effectively when used after the dermaroller and i find i can't use CP products with it becase i get too much irritation... |
Location: Louisville, KY Registered: 02 December 2006 Posts: 7 | Glass_butterfl, the cp's are too irritating, but you can use a peel? Not a tca, is it? After using my roller this morning, I went over my face with toner, then retin-A, cp, then emu. My face seems fine so far, but this is only day 1......Robin |
Location: UK Registered: 15 August 2006 Posts: 129 | actually i have used my dermaroller in conjunction with tca. I did this at first on a very small area on my knee. Initiallly I thought 'sh*t, I've really done it now' - very quick frosting, stung a fair bit (though not, I have to say, as much as glycolic, which irritates like hell).... I thought I may have seen some reduction in marks there (imagination, I don't know).. so I've also done it on my hips and arms. I only ever rollered along the length of the scar & tried to avoid normal tissue, as much as possible... I've only done it twice, no complaints, no improvements to speak of. I don't know why I can tolerate this and not CPs & oil - but that como seems to give me a really itchy rash, others have no probs. The acid I really notice working better with it, however, is my md skin formulations body clearing spray... without the roller I nver seem to produce peeling... with the roller I do. The spray is a mix of acids - salicylic, lactic & glycolic (I think). Oddly enough I never really find it irritating. It also contains retinol & skin soothers. |
Location: Louisville, KY Registered: 02 December 2006 Posts: 7 | I'ver been using my .75mm roller for a couple of months now, almost every day. It has made a difference on my hypopigmented spots. They're not even with the rest of my face yet, but there is a definite improvement. After rolling, I put on Retin-A, and cp or retin-a and vitamin c serum. I have gotten a 1.5 mm roller, which I'm waiting to use when my husband is out of town- he thinks I'm nuts as it is! I probably am, but I'll look damn good in the nut house! |
Location: usa Registered: 01 September 2009 Posts: 1 | You can order it on MakeMeHeal.com actually... |
Location: Carson City Nv Registered: 30 October 2009 Posts: 1 | You can buy the Original Dermaroller® products from derma-roller.org. Please note that consumers can purchase the Dermaroller® home roller for home use, but any needle length .5mm and longer becomes a medical device and needs to be used with a medical procedure due to safety and the mere fact that the process can be painful and would require a RX numbing cream. Cynergy is an official US distributor for the Original Dermaroller®. The Original Dermaroller® has been in the US since 2003. Do not be fooled by out of the country sellers. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Dr. Pickart, |

Location: UK Registered: 22 July 2010 Posts: 38 | Legal action!!! Gosh... Hoover would go out of business in the UK if they sued everyone who uses the name - us Brits don't vacume our houses here we Hoover. Same as a search on the net now is Googling even if we use Firefox. I say Dermaroller for skin rollering and quite frankly if I was running that company I'd love the free brand awareness sprawling out on forums such as ours!!! Dermaroller you are the market leaders, and although there are a lot of different rollers on the market and I have bought them, many users will probably buy your products if they are just not too expensive and they last. And as for skin cream forum using your brand name, with my extensive marketing knowledge - in particular brand awareness - I think this is a huge long-standing benefit to your product, and I would actually thank companies who offer free-speech forums such as this. |
