Stoney, how frequently do you do a peel and what kind and strength is it? I saw that you do an enzyme peel and another kind, so I was just wondering.
I haven't done a lactic acid peel in a while. |

I'll get back to you in a bit on the peels, Summerwave...
Here's just a refresher for everyone from Page 1 of the SB Website on Scar Removal: Scar Reducing with SRCPs: Certain types of copper peptides help the process of skin remodeling. Such types of copper peptides help activate your skin's metalloproteinases that remove damaged proteins (sun as sun-damaged collagen and elastin) and scars. At the same time they help activate the your skin's anti-proteases TIMP-1 and TIMP2 that protect against excessive breakdown of protein (Simeon et al, Life Sciences, 15,2257-2265, 2000). They also reduce the skin's protection of the scar-producing factor TGF-beta (McCormack, Nowak and Koch, Arch Plast Surg 3:28-32, 2001). SRCPs work best with a hydroxy acid such as glycolic acid or salicylic acid. The hydroxy acid slowly loosens and dissolves the scar proteins and the SRCPs help the rebuilding skin. SRCPs help the skin to (1) regenerate new collagen and elastin which improve skin firmness and elasticity, (2) increase the production of water holding glycosaminoglycans which is true moisturization, (3) improve the skin’s blood vessel microcirculation, (4) produce biochemical energy from nutrients in the body’s blood supply, (5) increase the natural defense mechanism against oxidative damage, and (6) repair damage to the protective skin barrier. For scientific references on these effects see: Copper Peptide Regeneration. Your skin is like a balloon and as the skin is rebuilt and scars removed, the elastic properties of the skin pull it into a smooth surface. |

I am wondering about switching the times of application and using LacSal at night and SCPserum in the a.m. I could then allow more time after LacSal before applying anything else (giving it time to have its proper pH).
I am applying Day Cover after LS anyway, so that is likely changing pH. Maybe I should switch it around... |

Sage Skincare was another big promoter of BP. They have some STRONG BP products and I used just as they recommended.
I think BP also caused chronic skin redness, and may be partly why I seem to have that. Could possibly be due to use of chemical ss as well. It all works together, I'm sure. |

You guys have "PARTY ON THE BRAIN"... Maybe Dr. Pickart should buy my house...He could turn the "Guest House/Art Studio" into his "East Coast Lab"...There's a great Loft upstairs that he could turn into his "library to do his research".. ...then he could have a Skin Biology Reunion here... Only problem is, that would leave me out...I'm not one to "ever go back"! I'll have to come up with a new plan!... |

I will be leaving soon to take my DS to camp, but later I will look for an emoticon for you Stoney.
I just updated my before/after photos, so be sure to look at them and also I put a few side by side in the comments section there. You have to click on "Comments" to see where I put the pics side by side. I would appreciate any feedback, if you can see any difference since June when I last posted pics. I purchased mine from Amazon, from a seller called Cosmetic Skin Solutions LLC. It was $80 for the 1.5 mm Dr. Roller.

Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner on the peels...I baked another BB Pie (the ones from the 4th are looooong gone) & I "ROLLED" this AM.... ...whoever coined the phase as "as easy as pie", must have never baked one...They ARE time consuming!! I've been doing a 40% lactic peel very 10 - 14 days, but since my skin is improving I think I'll go to once a month... ...I kinda like the more moderate enzyme peels better that I can use more frequently... 2 different ones I use are Philsophy's 2 part Microdelivery Peel (takes about 3 min)... & "ExfoliKate" Papaya Enzyme Peel (30 secs to 3 min)...both are a little pricey $$$, but last forever & are worth it!... no harsh "redness", but very, very effective..I like that! Even though I switched my rouine over to CPs in PM, I still like to "ROLL in the AM"...I can think much clearer then...sometimes by the end of the day my mind is a "garbled mess"! I will use CPs twice (AM/PM) on "Roll Days"...not quite protocol, but that's what I'm doing... ...Remember, I'm only listening to myself from hear on out...unless, of course Dr. Pickart calls me to his office for not following procedure This message has been edited. SUMMERWAVE- AMAZING progress. Your skin is so smooth. The retin-a has def clarified your pores. Your skin looks great. It seems like the scar by your mouth is completely gone. So happy for you.
When did you last roll? Like Dr. Pickart says-"it is a balancing act" and apparently you have found the right routine for your skin. There are many people on this forum that appreciate you documenting your progress. It really gives hope to those of us still involved in the process. I know you have posted in detail your ups and downs. Please answer this question though: Did it look really bad before it got to the point it is now? Did you notice your skin "changing"? The scars looking different at times (better and worse)? Your skin texture changing? Thank you so much.... |

Thank-u for ur kind wishes Ophelia Usually it takes many months before I see a real improvement; however, it seems that at first the scars get deeper and wider and then they start to fill in ... does that make sence ?? Cheers |
