Hi,my name is Kevin and I am currently 18 years old. For the past year I have been dealing with two problems regarding my genitals, swelling and redness around the meatus of the penis, and as this problem arose I developed urinary and ejaculatory problems. In the past year I have been prescribed steroid cream upon steroid cream, and this has really made the problem much more severe. The redness was originally bad enough, but I now have to deal with alot of skin thinning on the head of my penis, especially around the meatus where the majority of the creams were applied. After finally going to the Dermatologist recommended by my doctor, I tried a couple more steroid cream, which only made matters worse, and was advised to stop and was advised to only use Petroleum Jelly. I have been off of steroid creams for almost two months now, and although I have noticed a very minimal decrease in the redness of the skin, the swelling and thinned skin have not healed it self visibly at all. I believe this is mainly due to the fact that when the penis is erect, the skin has a lot of tension on it, and as the penis becomes flacid again, the thinning and swelling is extremely evident. I am really concerned about this problem, as I don't see how my penis' skin can ever possibly heal back to its normal state if this stretching continues to occur. My urinary and ejaculatory problems are the feeling of not getting all of the urine or semen out of my body, thus after urination, for up to 20 mins, and after ejaculation, for up to 4 or 5 hours, there are intermitent drips of the liquids. I have been seeing a urologist about this problem for some time now, and just 3 weeks ago, he diagnosed me with Chronic prostatitis as opposed to bladder problems or blockage of the urinary tract that he once thought ailed me. I do believe that his diagnosis this time is correct as the symptoms fit very well, but apparently it is a very hard problem to treat and so far the medication he has given me has not helped yet and I am going back to see him in a couple weeks. Additionally, the urine and semen dripping are aggrevating the already damaged skin. I would love to hear some insight on this matter, as everyday this problem eats away at me more and more, I'm not sure how much more I can take of this.....Thank you so much

Kevin,
Welcome. What I'd do first is use a good BHO - Biological Healing Oil such as EMU or squalane. You can read more about BHOs (Biological Healing Moisturizers at:BHO. The use of a bho protects the skin barrier which I think will really help with the irritation form the urine and semen. It might also thicken the skin. As for the Chronic prostatitis I've heard that different juices really help. My father-in-law swears by Noni juice. He has a case of it shipped in every few months and says it's cured him. I'll call him today and get the exact brand (most Noni juice sold in stores have sugar added to make it taste better, which is a big no no. I believe I read that the added sugar renders it useless). I've also read Pomegranate juice is one such substance that shows great promise. I hope some of this helps. Good Luck! CatFish |

Thanks Catfish. I'm just a little curious about the side effects of the BHO's and which one would be best suited to use on the extremely sensitive skin of my genitals. Is there a chance that the BHO could thin the skin or damage it even more? I have another appointment with my dermatologist in a couple weeks and I am going to talk to her about this as well. Also, thank you for the tip on the Noni juice, I'm going to look into that, and if you could get me the name of the specific brand that would be excellent. thank you

Kevin,
The Noni juice is called Tahitian Noni and it's endorsed by Dr. Ralph Heinicke. This is what to bottel looks like Noni Juice. I'm not sure if this is were my father-in-law gets it but I'm sure that you can shop around for a good price. I don't think that a BHO would thin the skin...anyone else around that could add to this...? I love the Skin Bio's Emu oil. It's light and not greasy and it DOES heal. CatFish |

Dr. Pickart, I am going to see my dermatologist in a couple weeks about this problem again, and I would like to know if you have any input on this matter that I may share with her. Thank you very much

See what she says but corticosteroids are a route to a thinned skin and permanent problems. (And probably a zero sex life.)

Kevin you didn't specifically say if you were sexually active. If you are and using latex condoms you might be getting a serious reaction from them or the lubricant.
