Hi Skin Biology and Dr.Pickart.
I was wondering if you have any products you can use on your donor area post FUE hair transplant to heal the donor area and prevent scarring? Also is it possible to heal the dotted scars where the FUE hairs were extracted and regrow new hair there? If so which products are best and can i use them on the donor area if the wounds are still fresh? I want to minimize scarring as much as possible and hopefully regrow some of the extracted hair if thats possible. Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

Thanks Dr.Pickart.
So folligen cream would be better for this than the lotion? I just had the operation done 11 days ago so the donor is a bit fresh wounded i guess. How long do i have to waut before applying the Folligen to the donor area post op? 2 weeks enough waiting time? My wounds look closed but the skin/flesh is still kind of red and fleshy looking. Thanks so much! |

When the transplant stops oozing fluid, then use the Folligen.
For some reason, most people use the Folligen Cream. |

Dr.Pickart,
I wanted to clarify that im talking about my donor area where i had the hairs extracted using the FUE method, which is single punches in the scalp and single follicle units taken out one by one, not a strip transplant where it leaves a big strip scar afterwards. I want to heal my donor area up and hopefully reverse any scarring so that the hairs that were taken from the donor area grow back hopefully. Since you said if you heal the scars then the hairs should grow back again. Basically i had 3000 FUE grafts extracted from the donor area using a small punch drill which means basically 3000 little tiny scars instead of a big strip scar. If you heal these little scars the hairs will regrow back again forsure? Im 19 days post op, and my donor area is not bleeding or leaking any fluid, it is just itching still and is a tiny bit sore sometimes, and ive been told thats part of the healing process. Also, the skin is a bit redish still. Can i start using the Folligen Cream and Emu Oil now to heal the scars? Or is it too soon still? Is it possibly that i might actually interfere with the healing process if i apply these too soon? How long should i wait? Also, is Folligen the best copper peptide to use to heal these little donor area scars or would the SUPER GHK-COPPER be better? PLEASE help me out Dr.Pickart as soon as you can i would really appreciate it! |

Stick to the Folligen cream at first. Damaged skin is fragile and light use on copper peptides will work better.
Later, you can use Super Cop. |

Thanks Dr.Pickart.
So the hairs will regrow back again through the scars or not? Maybe?, maybe not? Since its basically 3500 little dotted scars they should be easier to heal right? |

The hair shafts may have trouble under scar tissue, but the copper peptides will help remove the scar tissue.
There are two published studies on copper peptides improving hair transplants. They are at www.skinbiology.com/copperpeptideregeneration.html |
