Ben Goldacre, PhD, has a new book titled Bad Science. He writes that cosmetic scientists tell lies and mislead the public. Their focus is getting their products sold, not real science. He implies that cosmetic scientists are at the bottom of the social ladder and the embodiment of evil.

I couldn't agree more. Thank you for posting Dr P....
I hope you agree that the only definitive scientific mechanism to prove a treatment has affected the skin is a skin biopsy- something most patients, and volunteers aren't happy to cooperate with. My Best |

Well, The way I see it, we all want instant results. That is the basis of the beauty industry in general. Built up hopes often based on false illusions.
CPs & Retin-A are the only products with published studies that are known to create NEW collagen. I guess there is Vit C too, but most of the products formulated & sold are totally ineffective due it's fragility & inability to penetrate the skin. NEW collagen is KEY to rectifying the myriad of skin problems many of us face. Some problems, such as scars are harder to deal with & will take much longer to fix or reverse. The beauty world presents most everything as "quick fixes potions" on already young, beautiful people with no real skin issues. They make it look so convincing. Also many of these illusions cause long-term damage to our faces. When it comes to scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, sagging & loosening due to the aging process, there is very little the cometic world can really offer other than unnatural, temporary fixes that start looking like plastic after awhile... I know for myself, CPs CAN!....but just NOT overnight... |

Stoney - I am sure you have posted this before but when did you start your journey?

Hi slh - Sandra...That is a pretty name, like Sandra Dee...
I got serious about "fixing my face" in Jan '08 age 47, but I fumbled around with the products like everyone else. It was on 4/11/08 when I began ROLLING that I knew I was on to something. That is when the transformation began. Unfortuantely for me, the damage under my skin was severe. I had NO idea what I was in for... If you don't really have any damage under your skin & are just going for anti-aging, tightening & toning, then 6 months to a yr should give you noticable, favorable results using the products correctly. It is the accumulated damage that is the KILLER!... Hope you are reversing & halting the aging process which is what I am ultimately after too! |

Actually Sandra, I was 48 in Jan '08. I just can't keep track, can you?
I was hoping to be totally remodeled by my soon to be 50th, but I see that is NOT going to happen... I am more than thrilled though with the progress that I have made...I just wish the process wasn't so "eekish looking" & grueling. I'm kind of tired of looking like crap when I get aggressive, but know this is the ONLY way I will finish it off, which is what I PLAN to do, btw!... |

Stony, I've reached the big 5-0, and all is well, except for my eyes, which still look like crap on certain mornings.
I've been using CPs longer than you (I think) but have gotten a little distracted because of a lot of stress in the family. I'm trying to get my life back on track, and taking care of my skin is my outward sign that I'm taking care of my life. I enjoy being low-maintenance in general, and this is my area of indulgence. My litmus test is looking healthy and feeling good without make-up. I'm there! |

Stoney - I have been doing the CP's for about 6 months now and have noticed a little improvement but not a lot. I am up to the Tri-Reduction but still have to be careful about using the products around the eye area. I am committed to using it a full year but had hoped I would of noticed more results by now. I am doing it for anti-aging only. Sounds like you have made wonderful progress but has been a journey. You are so committed to your program so I have no doubt that you will end up with perfect results. Yeah, I hear you I actually forget how old I am sometimes...

Slh - Much like Annick, you BOTH seem to already have GREAT skin, so your changes will be more subtle as opposed to dramatic like mine.
I would say to just keep at it & Tri-Red Cream is a good place to be in your routine. It's a GREAT mid-strength product. The eye area takes the longest & you'd be better off using less powerful products on them. You will still get results, but without any loosening. I have paid little to no attention to my eyes, but see very positive results mostly underneath... |
