I was wondering if yogurt or milk can be used as a very gentle exfoliant, since it has lactic acid in it.

Has anyone ever used this and does it work? Smiler

Hi Di,

Yes, This is worth trying if you have sensitive skin. My 1st homemade peel was when I was 13 or 14. I used sour cream....My baby skin got bright pink & I panicked... Confused...I thought it was going to stay that way!

I think the fermentation helps so yogurt would be good too. Reg milk I am not so sure about... Confused?..

Hi Stoney,
My skin is so sensitve. I have been using 10% lactic acid every 10 days it has worked nicely on the dry rough skin I keep getting on my cheeks, but last month I went on a 5 hour drive and got a sunburn on my face I was wearing a zinc sunscreen of spf 28 and my face wasn't even in the sun, I guess I got the burn form the reflection off the dash board. That was realy weird, so I was thinking about trying somthing more gentle at least in the summer too keep this dry rough skin from coming back.

So you turned pink with sour cream Confused I don't know it doesn't sound that gentle either, does it. I haven't had a sunburn in years! Confused?

Thank you
Di

Di, I think that this would still be considered a very mild, gentle peel. I don't remember any stinging or anything, but the "pink face" Red Face confirmed that the lactics were working.

I have NO idea how long I left it on ... Confused?... and I'm sure I had NO idea what a lactic peel even was at the time? Also, I am sure I turned pink because my skin was young & NOT accustomed to any sort of lactics. It subsided in a couple of hrs. I remember hiding from my Mom... Embarrased

Give it a try & let us know. This may be a good alternative peel for sensitive skin types.

Stoney, that's funny hiding from your mom. Laughing

I was reading online some place to leave it on for 10 minutes. I'll try it when I feel the dryness coming on and let you know. I used a nice mask and that seemed to help so it isn't too bad right now.

Thank you Smiler
Di
