Have him take 4 milligrams of a copper chelate daily. Copper is absolutely essential for hair pigment formation by the enzyme tyrosinase.

But take the copper after a meal to avoid nausea.

Look at www.skinbiology.com/copperhealth.html for more on copper and nutrition.

Hi Dr. P

need to get a little confusion sorted out..
which of the two products below would you recommend for his case:

http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SWU468/ItemDetail?n=0

OR

http://www.vitasprings.com/che...tablets-carlson.html

(You did recommend the one by Swanson's Vitamins earlier). I just want to know what would be your recommended duration of the treatment. Also, whether both of them are the same and how much quantity I need to order based on the duration.

Please suggest and I appreciate all the help!

Dr. P, my bf wl be ordering copper chelate capsules from the below mentioned link:

http://www.vitasprings.com/che...tablets-carlson.html

M sorry to veer off the topic but I also need to get 1 g MSM as recommended by you, for myself. I am currently using the reg CP serum with squalane oil and take about 800 mg of vit C every day. I have so far not be able to find MSM at the local chemists so planning to order MSM also together with copper chelate.

I did a general search for MSM on this site vitasprings.com. but there were so many products with MSM that I am thoroughly confused. Could you please tell me which one should i order?

I have posted the link below for your easy reference:

http://search.store.yahoo.net/...earch.html&query=MSM

or is there sm other MSM product you thnk i should opt for?

I have also posted my concern on the other thread under the head supplements. I wld appreciate your help, thanx a ton, Dr. P

Dear Dr. Pickart

Here is my situation. I am 24 and noticed I had white hairs when I was 22. I noticed the hairs a few months after getting anxiety and panic attacks which were caused by extreme stress and anxiety. I don't know if the hairs started growing for those reason but I have a feeling they did. Since i started noticing the white hairs a few years ago my stress and anxiety levels are way down but i still have the grey white hairs which are all on the back right side of my head. But recently I noticed fine hairs in my temples which had very samll amount of pigment in them. They look white but when u look closely they have some color unlike the regular white hairs i have. I have only found these in my temples. WWhich are only 4-5 hairs. Now I have bought 60 capsule of 2mg chelated copper capsules and have been taking them for the past week. I wanted to know based on my situation what do you expect from me taking the chelated copper. Also is there anything else I can take? Thanks

The stress may be increasing your cortisol which stops skin repair.

Taking the extra copper should help.

This is our general advice on hair care for women.

Many hair products for women cause long term damage. Many hair experts think that women's hair was healthier 100 years ago. Old photographs
often show women in the 60s with hair down to their shoulders or their waist.

Skin Remodeling Copper Peptides often improve scalp and hair health. Also see the section on hair at www.folligen.com

This may help.

1.If your scalp is irritated, then to calm your scalp and help hair growth, the best would be to use the Emu Oil for Hair on your scalp in the morning and Folligen Lotion at night in denser hair areas and Folligen Cream on hairlines. Start with a very light amount of each. You do not need to wash it out in the morning.

2. If there is no irritation, then use Folligen Solution on your scalp - a small amount. Let it dry a little, then apply a light amount of Emu Oil-S for Hair. You do not need to wash it out in the morning.

3. If you have very blonde hair, then use Folligen for Blondes. This is a new lotion based on tin-peptides but most reports are very positive.

4. Also take daily supplements of MSM - 2 to 4 grams - and 1 gram each of flaxseed oil and borage oil.

5. To increase your hair's natural pigmentation, take an additional 2 mgs of copper daily. Hair pigments are made from the amino acid tyrosine by a copper-dependent enzyme call tyrosinase and copper is often in short supply in the human body.

6. Always use a minimum of shampoo and conditioner. Folligen Shampoo and Folligen Conditioner are very mild shampoos that help thicken and keep more moisture on the hair shafts.

7. Keep heat off your head - blow dryers can boil follicles. Hot oil treatments also damage hair follicles.

8. Stress can cause hair loss. Blood cortisol levels are raised and this inhibits skin repair. Often temporarily taking a daily supplement of 75 to 100 mgs of DHEA for a few months will block the damaging actions of cortisol.

9. Tight bindings, buns, braids, and so on, can cause hair loss. Keep your hair loose and fluffy.

10. Sometimes new hair growth can push out older hair shafts and there may be a brief period of hair shedding as the new hair shafts push out the old dormant hair shafts. Old, non-growing hair is held in the hair follicle for about four months before falling out.
